Ciana Fitzgerald

Ciana Fitzgerald is an Irish surrealist-realism painter and experimental video artist. She graduated from NCAD with a first-class honours in Fine Art Painting and moved to Germany shortly after, spending the next three years living and working between Berlin and Leipzig. She was awarded first prize in the Contemprary Art Award 2021 juried by some of the finest contemporary painters working today, shortlisted for the RDS Visual Art Award, the Talbot Gallery Award, and nominated for the NCAD Staff Prize. Her work has been published in the Irish Arts Review, and in a medical guidebook funded by the European Commission.

Her work has been shown in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally, and forthcoming exhibtions  include a solo show at the Irish Embassy in Berlin, RHA Annual Exhibition 2020 and a group exhibition at the Institute Cervantes in conjunction with LOOP Festival Barcelona. Recent exhibitions have included a solo show at Atelier Andersartig in Solingen Germany, exhibitions at Bos Gallery Dublin, lighting and aesthetic engineer at the Pfefferberg theatre in Berlin, collaborative exhibition in Leverkusen Germany, exhibitions at the Greenacres Gallery Spring and Summer Shows and the Irish International Opera Festival 2019. In addition, she gave an artist talk on her creative practice as part of the Science Gallery’s ‘INTIMACY’ exhibition at Trinity College. She is currently a virtual artist in residence with SPAR St Petersburg Art Residency, Russia, and a recipient of bursaries from the Arts Council of Ireland and Creative Ireland.
